First static species home pages appear at www.diptera.org and www.metla.fi, but no published record of these exists.
1-5 August 1995, published in 1996.
The idea was presented at a European Forest Institute workshop.

Abstract of a presentation at the 20th IUFRO World Congress.
1996.
The The Tree of Life project starts at University of Arizona.
29-31 March 1998.
Dynamic species home pages were suggested by the European Commission delegation to GBIF.
Summer 2002.
E.O. Wilson visions an electronic page of each species, and coins the Encyclopedia of Life term.
